By: Nitzan Daphna
When you run out of printer ink and need a replacement, there are several things that you need to know when buying a printer ink or toner cartridges. First thing that you need to know is what type of ink that you want to buy. Ink cartridges for printers come in three different types. The original equipment manufacturer (OEM), or those made by printer companies themselves. These are usually most expensive but have the highest quality among the other types of printer ink or toner cartridges. This is because OEM knows more about their own machine than anybody else. That’s why their inks are made ideally for their own machine so the compatibility and quality are tested. This made it the most expensive out of the three types.
The other type of printer ink or cartridges toner is called the compatible or the discount toner. These inks are produced by companies other than OEM. These inks are cheaper compared to OEM but it doesn’t mean that you cannot rely on the quality. Usually, they are entirely reliable. It was built from OEM specifications and released excluding the brand name so it can be sold cheaper. You can compare them to generic drugs. They are cheaper but with almost the same quality.
The last type of printer ink and cartridges is called the remanufactured. This is the most popular and most commonly used type of ink right now. They are the cheapest among the three types of ink printers. They are the ones that have been sent back to a cartridge supplier and refilled. The cartridges are taken apart, cleaned thoroughly and checked to make sure that they work correctly. This can be a cheaper alternative to buying an original cartridge. Buying a remanufactured cartridge is also more environment friendly as you are effectively recycling the cartridge. Most inkjet cartridges can be remanufactured several times. They are also reliable in terms of quality since they were also tested to ensure customer satisfaction. This is a good replacement for OEM and compatible since you can save a lot of money.
Out of these three types of printer ink and toner cartridges manufacturers, you can now decide which one you will go with. Each and every one of them has their own advantages and disadvantages. Except for OEM, compatible and remanufactured printer inks quality may vary to the manufacturer. If you choose either of the two, be sure that you will have the best quality that you can get. You should never compromise the quality of the one that you will buy cause buying the wrong one can only cause you trouble and end up spending more just to correct the mistake. If this will be your first time to buy a compatible or remanufactured cartridge, you can ask for your friend’s opinion that have used and tested a few products. The other reason why you may choose compatible or remanufactured printer ink is because you want to save money. You cannot be sure that you have saved money by choosing the cheapest, same as you cannot make sure that you’ve got the best quality by buying the most expensive one. It can be the other way around. The best thing you can do is to assess everything first, Quality versus affordability and quantity versus the price.
